Nuyorican Bowery Slam

During the Nuyorican Poets Café's building's reconstruction, the café brings their famous poetry slam series to the Bowery Poetry Club on 308 Bowery (between E. Houston & Bleecker Streets) in Manhattan, NYC. Weekly on Monday evenings, in-person. Doors open at 6:30 P.M. Slam takes place from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Tickets: $20 in advance/online or at the door. HOW IT WORKS?

- Poets have 3 MINUTES to perform one original poem per round (any topic of their choosing).

- Sign up inside the club (at the stage, after doors open), the list is based on a first-come first-serve basis.

- Scores range from a 0.0 to a 10.0 -- judges are randomly chosen from the audience.

- No musical accompaniment, no props on stage.

- Two rounds -- the top 5 from the first round advance to the second round.

- Winner (combined score from both rounds) receives $20 cash and gets an invite to the the Nuyorican Poets Café's new monthly Friday grand slam.
